It is my great honor to serve as the President of GAAE. The purpose of GAAE is to promote best practices, public policy, and advocacy for non-traditional learning and teaching through volunteerism, information, and professional development. The pandemic has transformed the educational landscape and exposed that alternative/non-traditional settings can meet the unique needs of these new post-pandemic challenges. Simply put “alternative education is the way of the future”. An on-going goal of GAAE is to continue to build its membership. If you are reading this message, I am asking you to join GAAE to support alternative education throughout Georgia. You will find that GAAE provides great networking opportunities for exchanging ideas and brainstorming solutions to challenges encountered at the school or district level. We know that when you are the only alternative school or program in a district, these networking opportunities may not exist. Therefore, having a strong professional association that you can call on with a difficult question helps you to do a better job on behalf of your students. To become a member, the only requirement is that you have an interest in the educational welfare of students in these settings. Remember, it takes a village to educate the whole child and we hope that you will become part of that Village. We look forward to networking with you.
